Another bathroom designs idea - what about ventilation? If you live in climates prone to mold and mildew, you should install an exhaust fan in your bathroom. Ventilating fans are sized by the number of cubic feet of air they move each minute (cfm). A design my own bathroom person will have a good ventilation system that can move the air from the bathroom to the outdoors about eight times per hour or once every 7 or 8 minutes. Bathrooms generate humidity and moisture that can penetrate ceilings, floors and countertops. Remove odors and humidity from a bathroom by installing a power ventilator large enough to do the job. You do not want your walls to break into a sweat every time someone showers.

Step three - Waterproof your bathroom. Waterproof your bathroom floor, shower recess, and around the bath. When waterproofing the floor ensure that the waterproofing comes 100mm up the walls. The shower recess will need to be waterproofed 100mm above the shower rose outlet. Also the bath should be waterproofed 100mm above the lip of the bath right around and to the floor. At the doorway install a 25 x 25mm aluminum angle glued into place with quality silicone and waterproof into the lip. Your whole bathroom should now the tanked, so the all water will only go down a drain. Bathroom waterproofing tip: waterproofing is an easy job but quality and accuracy is most important.

Does the finish suit your bathroom? From a style perspective, one thing to think about prior to purchasing your new bathroom cabinet is what kind of finish the unit has. It is far easier to find a bathroom cabinet that matches your existing bathroom suite rather than have to undergo a costly refurbishment simply to suit your new piece of furniture. With this in mind, cabinets with wooden finishes such as in an oak or wenge will usually complement a traditional styled bathroom while the sleek finish of a chrome or white gloss cabinet will look good with a more contemporary bathroom setting. Let the design do the talking! In addition to the type of finish you could choose, you should also consider the design of the bathroom cabinet. This can be everything from minimalist designs that will complement a compact bathroom setting to bold circular cabinets that will act as a focal centrepiece to a larger bathroom. The particular design of cabinet that you choose really dictates the kind of statement you want to make with your bathroom decor so choose wisely.

Mirrors and Cabinets. Your bathroom mirror and cabinet get used on such a frequency and yet they never get the attention a kitchen cabinet gets. The net result is cabinet shelves get a thin layer of talk or dust and mirrors get a sort of clean but it is never perfect. Now is time to clean these items. Bathroom Cabinet. Empty the cabinet and make sure that the shelves are set correctly in its carcase. Often shelves become loose. Check the door(s) of your bathroom cabinet and make sure it/they function correctly. Clean any dust inside the bathroom cabinet and then set about restocking the shelves. Stick to the rules! Only put back what you have used in the past month. So discard any bathroom products that have not been used. There is always an unwanted gift that can be wrapped up and passed on to an Aunt for a birthday lurking at the back. The products removed from the edge of the bath. Put them back! It is clear that you use these products more than any other product in your bathroom. So why not keep them out where you can access them? If you are looking for a stylish way of displaying products, then bunch them in groups of threes. Cleaning the toilet. Designing to YOUR dream bathroom This has more to do with design than anything else, but it is the foundation on which the rest of your decisions will depend. To help yourself through this process, go through the following mental exercise. Close your eyes. Picture your dream house: the lawn, the fence, the windows, the door. In your mind's eye, walk through the door, up the stairs, through the master bedroom and into your perfect bathroom. Now this is your dream house. Your idea of a perfect bathroom is completely up to you. For you, a great bathroom may be simple; a bathroom with gleaming, all-white surfaces and brass for all the fixtures. On the other hand, it could be something more chic, like your own personal spa. The point is, the idea for this perfect bathroom is yours, and yours alone. Everyone else involved in the project from this point forward should be focused on giving you your vision, not theirs. Whatever scope of project you've chosen to undertake, the end should be as close to your dream as it can be.

Step two - Install wall and ceiling linings. Install your 6mm wall lining being careful to nail the fibro board every 150mm without nailing into the new pipes and electrical wires. The best way is to measure and mark the pipe and wire layout onto your new wall board with a pencil as you go. Screw up (or nail) the ceiling lining, plasterboard is the most common. However if you are laying your tiles from floor to ceiling do not install the cornice as this is best done after tiling. If you are not tiling to the ceiling go ahead and install the cornice after the wallboard and ceiling lining have been installed. Also if your bath is not freestanding you can now make up the frame and install the bath. Ensure the bath is installed correctly allowing for the thickness of the tiles and glue.Be sure to check all linings and pipes before you continue with your bathroom renovation.
