Mirrors and Cabinets. Your bathroom mirror and cabinet get used on such a frequency and yet they never get the attention a kitchen cabinet gets. The net result is cabinet shelves get a thin layer of talk or dust and mirrors get a sort of clean but it is never perfect. Now is time to clean these items. Bathroom Cabinet. Empty the cabinet and make sure that the shelves are set correctly in its carcase. Often shelves become loose. Check the door(s) of your bathroom cabinet and make sure it/they function correctly. Clean any dust inside the bathroom cabinet and then set about restocking the shelves. Stick to the rules! Only put back what you have used in the past month. So discard any bathroom products that have not been used. There is always an unwanted gift that can be wrapped up and passed on to an Aunt for a birthday lurking at the back. The thing is you will benefit from ample space in your newly cleaned bathroom cabinet.

Designing to YOUR dream bathroom This has more to do with design than anything else, but it is the foundation on which the rest of your decisions will depend. To help yourself through this process, go through the following mental exercise. Close your eyes. Picture your dream house: the lawn, the fence, the windows, the door. In your mind's eye, walk through the door, up the stairs, through the master bedroom and into your perfect bathroom. Now this is your dream house. Your idea of a perfect bathroom is completely up to you. For you, a great bathroom may be simple; a bathroom with gleaming, all-white surfaces and brass for all the fixtures. On the other hand, it could be something more chic, like your own personal spa. The point is, the idea for this perfect bathroom is yours, and yours alone. Everyone else involved in the project from this point forward should be focused on giving you your vision, not theirs. Whatever scope of project you've chosen to undertake, the end should be as close to your dream as it can be.

2. Types of bathroom extractor fan. There are two main types of bathroom extractor fan: Axial and Centrifugal. Axial fans are the ones that you are used to seeing on walls and ceilings and tend to have air extraction rates of between 85m3/hr and 95m3/hr on the 4 inch models. These are suitable for standard installations where the fan is intended to be ducted through the wall. Centrifugal fans tend to be (but not always) inline duct fans. (see previous section). Centrifugal fans are usually much more powerful than axial fans with air extraction rates of between 110m3/hr and 220m3/hr on the 4 inch models. Centrifugal fans are particularly well suited to installations where long duct lengths are required. The Vent Axia Solo Plus, for example, can be used in duct runs up to 50m!

Step three - Waterproof your bathroom. Waterproof your bathroom floor, shower recess, and around the bath. When waterproofing the floor ensure that the waterproofing comes 100mm up the walls. The shower recess will need to be waterproofed 100mm above the shower rose outlet. Also the bath should be waterproofed 100mm above the lip of the bath right around and to the floor. At the doorway install a 25 x 25mm aluminum angle glued into place with quality silicone and waterproof into the lip. Your whole bathroom should now the tanked, so the all water will only go down a drain. Bathroom waterproofing tip: waterproofing is an easy job but quality and accuracy is most important.

Modern. Modern bathrooms are all about what you do with the space you have. Within many bathrooms there is little room to work with, so making the most of the space is essential. This is why fitted bathroom suites are now so popular. Having bathroom furniture made to measure is one of the most practical design solutions when remodeling the bathroom. How many of us have had a bathroom with a cluttered airing cupboard? With the modern bathroom there's no need to cram your toiletries, towels and cleaning fluids around the boiler. With fitted vanity units, storage units and cabinets you'll have all the space you need. When examining modern bathroom design, wall-hung furniture has to get a mention. White gloss will never go out of fashion, but more recently furniture finishes such as wenge, beech and maple have made a real emergence in popularity.

How big will the bathroom be? Bathroom sizes include:. Master bathroom or luxury bathroom - includes toilet, bidet, two sinks, separate tub and shower, whirpool or spa and perhaps more, depending on your budget. Some master bathrooms are large enough to have exercise equipment, and they are subdivided into smaller compartments for privacy depending on what is needed. Full bathroom - includes toilet, sink, and combination tub/shower plumbed along one wall. Typical dimensions are 5x7 or 5x8 feet. Half bathroom - includes sink and toilet only. It can be placed on the main floor of your home to reduce the morning rush, and the family doesn't have to go upstairs to use the toilet. Common dimensions are between 3x6 and 4x5 feet, about the size of a smaller closet. Small bathroom - includes corner shower stall, toilet and sink and typical dimensions are 6x6 feet. Childrens bathroom - can be a three-quarter bathroom or full bathroom depending on the size of your home and how many children you have. Children's bathrooms should have plenty of storage and cubbies that are safe and colorful. If several kids will use the same bathroom, a wall or half wall between the toilet and the rest of the bathroom may be a good idea. Guest bathroom - can be a three-quarter bathroom or a full bathroom.
